GeoVUsie Lustrum Symposium: Natural Hazards

On Friday November 26th, study association GeoVUsie organizes a symposium about "Natural Hazards".

Several speakers from different earth scientific and earth and economical backgrounds will give new insights and examples from practice. Lectures on th efollowing subjects will be presented:

 

  • Risks of volcanism on Iceland - Bernd Andeweg (FALW)
  • Influence of extreme weather on traffic Muhammed Sabir (VU University Amsterdam)
  • the use of GIS in disaster management Arta Dilo (TU Twente)
  • Geological overview of research in the Hazar basin in Eastern Turkey - David Garcia Moreno (Royal Observatory Belgium)
  • Work in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina - Mathijs van Ledden (Royal Haskoning)

The symposium is chaired by Hubert Vonhof (FALW)
