Career prospects

The research Master’s in Lifestyle and Chronic Disorders trains you for a specialist scientific career in this field. You could join a university as a researcher or PhD student, or a body like:

  • National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM)
  • Harvard Public School of Health, Boston, USA
  • National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA 
  • Institute for Work and Health, Toronto, Canada 
  • Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, Kuopio, Finland 
  • World Health Organization, Regional Office for Europe, Copenhagen, Denmark

There are also opportunities in scientific work for the government or the pharmaceuticals industry. Or you might consider becoming an epidemiologist in the health service or a research assistant with a health charity.
 
Post-doctorate courses
Once you have completed your Master’s in Lifestyle and chronic disorders, you may also decide to continue your studies at a more advanced level. The options include post-doctorate courses at the Netherlands School of Primary Care Research (CaRe) or the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences (NIHES). You can also apply to a PhD programme at a university or research institute.
