Biomedical Topics in Health Care

The central question within the minor “Biomedical Topics in Health Care” is: How does biomedical knowledge support public health related solutions? During this minor, the courses generally start from a strong biomedical perspective, but the themes are always based on the field of public health.

Courses

The minor comprises five compulsory courses, all taught in English. The time schedule is:

  • September: Neuronal and Psychic Pathology (Dr. Tommy Pattij and Dr. Annemieke van Dam)
  • October: Allergy and Auto-immunity (Dr. Mathijs Bergman)
  • November: Genetics and Public Health (Dr. Lidewij Henneman)
  • December: Toxicology and Development (Dr. Sabine Spijker)
  • January: Oncology and Public Health (Dr. Esther Ruhé)

Target population

The minor is open to both Health Sciences students and Health and Life Sciences students from the Vrije Universiteit. Students from other universities and doing a similar education are also invited to participate.

Organization

The minor BTPH is coordinated by Dr. Lothar Kuijper.
