Using Blackboard within the faculty
The faculty uses the ‘Blackboard’ digital learning environment. Lecturers can use this programme to create websites that support their course teaching.
Blackboard is user-friendly. To visit a course website, all you need is an Internet connection and a browser. You can then work with Blackboard via the Internet when and where you choose: in the computer room at VU University or from home.
Blackboard enables you to work on assignments with other students in your group. You can also submit your assignments online. But there is more. Blackboard also provides the latest news, course information, lecture sheets and links to relevant websites. You can set up your own discussion group and take tests. You can send your assignments directly to your lecturer for assessment.
The elements of Blackboard that are used will vary from course to course. The course lecturers manage their course websites in Blackboard, and are the first point of contact in the event of problems with a website.
Blackboard log-in screen
Use your VU-net-id to log-in to Blackboard. You should have received this ID at your home address, in a letter from the Department of Student Services.
Blackboard websites can be found via the Courses tab in the course catalogue. Once you have registered for a course in TIS, access to the course website is arranged automatically.
Manuals, tips and general information can be found at the Blackboard support site. Or: introduction clips.
