Marjolein Zweekhorst graduated in Medical Biology at the VU University Amsterdam (1996). After her graduation she joined the department Biology and Society as a researcher. She then became a PhD student and she wrote her PhD thesis on institutionalisation of an interactive approach to technological innovation. Her current research is focused on methodology development for interactive policy and interactive technology development in the field of (international) public health, biotechnology and biomedical sciences.
She is Managing Director of the Athena Institute, VU University Amsterdam. In addition, she is assistant professor at Athena. Marjolein is Master coordinator of the master Management Policy-Analysis and Entrepreneurship in the Health and Life Sciences and she also coordinates, and teaches within, various courses. She is a member of the educational board of the MSc degree programme Health Sciences of the School of Life Sciences and member of the examination board of MSc and BSc degree program Biomedical Sciences, School of Life Sciences, VU University Amsterdam.
