Mission

The mission of the Isotope Geochemistry group at the VU University Amsterdam is to perform international excellent research in Earth Sciences with the most-advanced analytical techniques and facilities.

Isotope geochemistry addresses questions related to origin, structure, composition and evolution of the Earth, and contributes to the understanding of how the Earth operates. Isotope geochemistry plays a promiment role in Earth Sciences, because of its ability to determine accurately absolute ages of geological processes, and to trace the origin of gases, liquids and solids from the Earth's surface and interior. The Isotope Geochemistry group exploits these capabilities through a variety of studies that examine proceses in Earth's mantle, crust and hydrosphere.
