Helene is working on improving the ability of Ecological Risk Assessment to accurately evaluate the risks associated with contaminated sites, mostly with respect to contamination of terrestrial sites by metals. One of the main project goals is the integration of metal speciation and site-specific parameters into the estimation of bioavailability. Another important goal is the integration of multiple scales of biological organization into the process of assessing risk and assigning priority to remediation efforts.
