Expertise

Baris Yerli has a background in geology, tectonics and lithofacies. He did his Bachelor study at the Istanbul Technical University at the Faculty of Mine, Geology Engineering Department. He obtained his MSc at the University of Bremen, Faculty of Geosciences. Currently he is working on his PhD thesis at the Rurh-University Bochum, Institute for Geology, Mineralogy and Geophysics, Bochum Germany, in cooperation with the Intitute for Geo- and Bioarchaeology at the VU-University Amsterdam, Deltares and the University of Leuven. His research focuses on the relation between Earthquakes and the presence of historical-archaeological heritage in Southwest Turkey using archaeoseismological techniques. In December 2011 he is going to defend his PhD-thesis at the VU-University Amsterdam.
